Qualidade de vida em oncologia

O propósito do artigo é, através de pesquisa bibliográfica e análise reflexiva, abordar a importância, o impacto e levantamento de estratégias adequadas no cuidado ao doente e família com dor crónica oncológica tendo como foco a qualidade de vida (QdV).
Centramos a atenção na evolução histórica do conceito de qualidade de vida e na importância atual da definição do tratamento adequado à pessoa e família; na contextualização da noção de QdV num indivíduo saudável, QdV na pessoa com doença oncológica e qualidade de vida relacionada com a saúde (QdVRS); seus campos de implicação e abrangência; ética clínica e QdV; instrumentos de medição da QdV e sua importância na prática do cuidar.
Relevamos que na prestação de cuidados de saúde, a QdVRS é cada vez mais aceite como um objetivo principal. Numa fase mais avançada da doença o enfoque dirige-se da cura para a paliação, sendo o objectivo maior o incremento do bem-estar com melhoria ou preservação da QdV. A QdV só pode ser medida e descrita em termos individuais, dependendo do estilo de vida atual, das experiências passadas e em esperanças, sonhos e ambições.
