Competências dos enfermeiros de investigação em ensaios clínicos: Revisão integrativa de literatura

Background: Although the number of nurses who are part of Clinical Trials (CT) teams is increasing, in Portugal there is no definition of competencies for them, only based on knowledge in the area covered by the CT, personal characteristics and non-graduate training.
Objective: Identify the competencies of Nurses to carry out Clinical Trial.
Methodology: Integrative review, in accordance with the PICo strategy, with the research being carried out on October 23, 2023, on EBSCOHost in Medline and CINAHL Complete databases.
Results: The final sample included 9 articles, from which emerged a division into 10 domains of competencies: CT Coordination; Ethical standard; Communication; Informed consent; CT management; Participant protection and safety; Documentation; Professional development; Financial implications and research product.
Conclusion: It was possible to identify different domains of competences, from advocacy for participant safety, study integrity and data robustness; but also, the lack of specialized training in the area.
