Abstract

Interventional Radiology is a medical specialty conducting image guided treatment and diagnosis, and requires a specific professional profile.

Information about competences and abilities that characterize these professionals is vital to define the ideal profile for maximum efficiency. With practice, specially in angiography rooms, comes the need to refine and differentiate the performed tasks. However after bibliographic and institutional research we found these are not always clearly stated. This article emerges from the necessity of acquiring and deepening knowledge. Through daily reflexion in practice, and bibliographic research we come to the conclusion that a nurse in Interventional Radiology must possess a proactive personality, be gifted with a refined manual dexterity and be able to integrate a diverse multidisciplinary team.
