Chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (cipn)

Chemotherapy-Induced Peripheral Neuropathy (NPIQ) is a dysfunction of neurons due to the administration of neurotoxic cytotoxic. We aim to promote the early diagnosis of NPIQ through the application of an instrument for neurotoxicity evaluation and its nursing record in Day Hospital. The study deals with an analysis of the records made in the electronic clinical process in a day hospital session in the first 2016. Our sample consisted of 146 patients receiving oxaliplatin, paclitaxel and bortezomib. The results show that there are gaps in the registry regarding the absence of symptomatology, but when this information is recorded it is observed that the predominant symptomatology is paresthesia’s of grade 1 in the hands and grade 2 in the feet, being the pain a frequent signal. Nurses must develop knowledge, skills, and abilities that allow them to adopt measures to promote the management and adherence to the therapeutic regime, the training for the self-care of the person and their functional re-adaptation. They also must improve the registration of their interventions for better continuity and quality of care.
