Nursing interventions in parental education in the diagnosis of oncological disease in pediatric age: scoping review protocol

Introduction: The diagnosis of an oncological disease in children is an overwhelming moment for the whole family, especially the parents, and implies the acquisition of a set of knowledge and skills, making nursing intervention in parental education essential.
Objective: To map the available scientific evidence on nursing interventions applied to parental education in the context of the diagnosis of cancer in children and adolescents.
Inclusion criteria: Studies reporting nursing interventions in the education of parents of children or adolescents in the context of a diagnosis of cancer.
Methods: Scoping review protocol according to the recommendations of the Joanna Briggs Institute. Published and unpublished studies, with a quantitative, qualitative or mixed methods approach. Complete search in the following databases: MEDLINE Complete, CINAHL Complete, Nursing & Allied Health Collection, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, Cochrane Clinical Answers, Library, Information Science & Technology Abstracts, RCAAP. Screening of studies by title and abstract, with subsequent analysis of the full text by two independent reviewers who will extract and categorize the data. Research protocol registered with the Open Science Framework (DOI 10.17605/OSF.IO/9ZRGJ).
Conclusion:
The mapping of knowledge on this subject will make it possible to develop knowledge for nursing training and for the provision and management of care.
