Recurso ao Ehealth como complemento nos cuidados a oferecer às pessoas com doença Oncológica em tratamento de Quimioterapia

Resumo

Estamos a presenciar uma nova era tecnológica na oncologia, na gestão de sinais e sintomas, na vigilância de complicações associadas aos tratamentos, na monitorização da adesão à terapêutica e até na forma como comunicamos ou interagimos: doentes, profissionais de saúde e instituições hospitalares. O recurso à tecnologia móvel (mHealth) está a ser cada vez mais utilizado como uma estratégia eficiente para melhorar a adesão à terapêutica, podendo ainda ser um recurso viável para o fornecimento de um leque diversificado de intervenções educacionais ao mesmo tempo que permite que os profissionais de saúde monitorizem toxicidades ou comportamentos e que disponibilizem orientações de autocuidado para o utilizador, designadamente os doentes do foro oncológico, em tratamento de quimioterapia. O progresso ao nível da mHealth pode proporcionar uma “nova era” no cuidar em oncologia. No entanto, é importante que se reflita acerca das suas implicações para a prática clínica e para a investigação não esquecendo as limitações que estas tecnologias podem ter, nomeadamente ao nível da sua conceção. Contudo, é imprescindível ainda percorrer um caminho muito longo por forma a tornar estes recursos válidos, seguros e acessíveis aos utilizadores. É necessário que as aplicações ultrapassem o cenário académico em que na sua maioria são desenvolvidas e se massifique a sua utilização na prática clínica, permitindo assim uma verdadeira avaliação do impacto desta “nova” modalidade de intervenção em oncologia.
