Abstract

The incidence of nausea and vomiting in patients on treatments of chemotherapy is related with the emetic potential of the administered drugs. The knowledge of the emetic potential of the drugs and of the characteristics of that effect regarding to their peak and occurrence interval is important for the nursing cares. The control of the nausea and vomiting is unpredictable for each individual, so there is a need for the treatments to be individualized and adapted to each one. In the development of this
study, we obtained answers that indicate that there is no difference among the presence of acute or late nausea. However there is a more positive answer for late vomiting than in acute ones. In these cases becomes fundamental an objective evaluation to identify the causes and triggering factors of the emetic phenomenon.
