Editorial Procedure
Onco.News Journal performs its entire editorial flow management process on the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform, from submission to publication. It presents a double-blind peer review process, with each article going through a 5-phase cycle from proposal to dissemination, with average times defined in a total of 90 days. Authors accompany the manuscript evolution process throughout the editorial process.
The editorial procedure is carried out in 5 primary phases.
1 - Pre-analysis: All articles submitted for publication on the journal's platform will be subject to a preliminary analysis by the journal's director and deputy director. They verify whether the paper can enter the peer review process. All items on the checklist included here are verified based mainly on the normative structure and principles. Once these conditions are observed, the content of the works is subjected to plagiarism detection through the Copyspider tool. In case of suspicion of inappropriate conduct, the author(s) is/are contacted by the Director to clarify the questions or doubts raised. The text may or may not proceed to peer review. Depending on the outcome of this process, this decision is up to the Director. If the article is recommended to enter the peer review process, it moves on to the next phase.
2 – Peer review: The article is sent to 2 reviewers specialized in the subject of the article being evaluated. The article is sent to a third party whenever there is no agreement between the two reviewers. To learn more about the review process, go here.
After the authors have responded to all the reviewers' recommendations (if applicable), the article is analyzed by the journal's director and deputy director. They verify the article has the conditions to be published, comparing the article before and after the review proposed by the reviewers. If the article is ready to be published, proceed to the Final Correction phase Final exams. Otherwise, the paper is rejected.
3 – Final Correction: Documentation technicians check the normative format of bibliographic references, and translators check the language of abstracts. Subsequently, the journal's director and deputy director verify the scientific text in the Final Reviewer phase. The scientific text is confirmed from the morphological and syntactic points of view.
4 – Modeling and Attribution of DOI: The articles are modelled, and the Digital Object Identifier (DOI) is assigned.
5 – Publication and Dissemination: Finally, the articles are available on the journal's page for free access; they are sent to all databases, indexers, and dissemination circuits. It will also be printed on paper and sent to whoever requests it, depending on the payment. You can find out more here
